Grab your son, daughter, spouse, brother or hunting buddies to book the bear hunting experience of a lifetime at Mackay Bar Ranch.
We combine your guided hunt with all the pleasantries, lodging, meals, and gracious hospitality that you could ever hope to find in a remote location like the Frank Church “River of No Return” Wilderness.
We’ll pick you up at Vinegar Creek Boat Ramp on the Salmon River about 26 miles from Riggins Idaho, where your ADVENTURE BEGINS. We’ll travel in our Coast Guard Certified Jet Boat, framed by all the scenic beauty of the Frank Church “River of No Return”, to our location upriver, about 26 miles to the white sandy shores of Mackay Bar Ranch.
Our backcountry wilderness ranch sits just around the bend from the confluence of the South Fork of the Salmon River where it flows into the Main Salmon River.
Our bear hunts are based from the ranch, but we venture out daily using various methods such as spot and stalk, baiting, and hounds. We have plenty of mountain savvy stock to travel the steep countryside, Coast Guard Certified jetboats to navigate the river corridor and ATV’s for traveling the Dixie Road to bait stations. Depending on the weather and the bear activity, your guide will decide every day the best options for making your hunt successful!
We can adjust the hunt adventure to fit your physical conditioning, from EXTREME Bear Hunting to an easier, less strenuous experience.
Folks, its the EXPERIENCE that brings you to Mackay Bar Ranch, combined with the plush carpet of services that we roll out for our guests. Your experience goes well beyond a rugged bear hunt, where you’ll enjoy hot chef prepared meals in our beautiful main lodge. You’ll feel right at home in one of our beautifully furnished private rooms or private cabins, each equipped with private bathrooms.
Our loyal guests tell it best when it comes to the hospitality and lifetime adventures offered at Mackay Bar Ranch.
